Cam Newton takes to Instagram to bemoan Kelvin Benjamin trade (pic)
The Carolina Panthers on Tuesday traded wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin to the Buffalo Bills in exchange for two draft picks. And it certainly appears that Cam Newton isn’t happy with the move.
Newton on Tuesday took to Instagram to bemoan the trade, posting a photo of himself from practice alongside Benajmin and Joe Webb (who, incidentally, also now plays for the Bills after the Panthers released him in September.
Newton writes in the post: “Some things you will never understand! Damn I miss my dogs!”
Interestingly, it was only last Sunday that Newton sang Benjamin’s praises.
“He’s a person that’s an unbelievable teammate. He comes to work each and every day,” Newton said, via WCNC. “He may not be the talkative person all the time, but I guarantee you, when you want people in your foxhole, Kelvin Benjamin is the person that you want.”
Panthers general manager Marty Hurney told Charlotte’s WFNZ on Wednesday that Newton was not consulted on the Benjamin trade, per Pro Football Talk. That leads to the presumption the quarterback likely was as shocked as anyone when word of the deal came through.
NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport also provided additional context as to why the Panthers decided to trade Benjamin at this juncture.

As for Benjamin, it’s on to Buffalo, where word came down Wednesday morning about what number the wide receiver will wear with the Bills.
