Bill Belichick spent Saturday apple-picking with longtime girlfriend (pic)
The New England Patriots played Thursday night, narrowly defeating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers — thanks to three missed field goals by Nick Folk — by a score of 19-14. Thanks to the midweek game, Bill Belichick had some free time on his hands this weekend.
So, what did the Patriots head coach Bill Belichick elect to do on Saturday? Hole up in his office and review game film? Nope. Not even close. He went apple picking with longtime girlfriend Linda Holliday.
And from the looks of it, Belichick’s rugged exterior was softened up quite a bit during what many consider a traditional autumn outing.
Holliday took to Instagram to post a photo of the couple exploring the grounds at Natick’s Lookout Farm, an idyllic New England apple orchard.
“Apple picking & celebrating Blakely,” Holliday writes in the post, adding hashtags #OneYear #PaPa.
Holliday in her post is making mention of Blakely Rose, Belichick’s first grandchild, who is celebrating her first birthday this month.
Belichick’s patented cantankerous persona when handling his duties with the Patriots is of course the stuff of legend. The Hall of Fame-bound coach does, however, seem to let his guard down when away from the game, and much of the credit for that should go to Holliday.
Good grief, how often do we see Belichick even manage to crack smile without Holliday by his side? Not very often, obviously.
After all, who else could possibly convince Belichick to do a stylish photo shoot for Nantucket Magazine?

No one other than Holliday, obviously. Suffice to say, it’s abundantly clear the curmudgeonly Belichick is absolutely smitten with his longtime gal pal.
