Antonio Brown plays off meltdown with water cooler ‘rematch’ (vid)

“Round 2” on Wednesday of the bout between Antonio Brown and a water cooler lacked the chaotic angst of Sunday’s Round 1, but it nevertheless made for an interesting moment.

Brown suffered a meltdown for the ages during last Sunday’s victory over the Baltimore Ravens, angrily tossing a water cooler before a confrontation with Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Todd Haley. The temper tantrum stemmed from Ben Roethlisberger missing a wide open Brown on a play that would have resulted in an easy touchdown.

While it’s unclear whether or not the enigmatic wide receiver has yet to patch things up with Haley, Brown had a “rematch” of sorts with a water cooler during a whimsical moment in the Steelers locker room.

Steelers linebacker Vince Williams was the instigator behind the so-called rematch, providing video of Brown’s interaction with the water cooler nemesis.

It’s encouraging that Brown played along with Williams’ antics. But it’s arguably even a better look that Brown took responsibility for his sideline outburst by apologizing via Twitter on Wednesday as well.

The incident and subsequent fallout not surprisingly has been a big talker this week for the Steelers, with both Roethlisberger and head coach Mike Tomlin criticizing Brown for his sideline antics. Big Ben later blew off the notion he shouldn’t have called out Brown publicly, arguing it’s his job as a team leader to weigh in on such matters.

That said, it appears between the weeted apology and Wednesday’s water cooler hi-jinks that the hope will be for the Steelers that Brown’s meltdown can be put in the rear view mirror and the team can move on from the situation.
