Did Isaiah Thomas take shot at Celtics over loyalty on Instagram? (pic)
It’s well-known that Isaiah Thomas wasn’t exactly thrilled with how things went down that ultimately resulted in the Boston Celtics shipping him off to the Cleveland Cavaliers. And most of that is due to comments Thomas himself made.
Now, it appears the new Cavs guard is taking a swipe at his former team with some “loyalty” chatter in an Instagram story.
Thomas posted a message on a Cavaliers white board that featured a motivational “Thought of the Day,” as captured by Bleacher Report.

The “Thought of the Day” message reads, “Respect is earned. Honesty is appreciated. Trust is gained. Loyalty is returned.” Thomas made sure to highlight what must have been the most personally relevant portion of the message by circling the loyalty line and adding “That way!!!” to the post.
Thomas was remarkably silent in the immediate aftermath of the blockbuster trade that delivered the disgruntled Kyrie Irving to the Celtics and shipped him — along with Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic, the Nets’ unprotected 2018 first-round pick and a 2020 second-rounder — to Cleveland.
But in the weeks that followed, Thomas took to Instagram to post a video and message that illustrated his vow of being “fully committed” to the Cavaliers organization. After that, Thomas, in an emotional essay for The Players’ Tribune, wrote of the shocking trade, “That (expletive) hurt.”
It’s perfectly understandable how Thomas felt about the seismic change in his life and NBA career in the wake of the trade. And it sure seems like he hasn’t gotten over the perception that the Celtics wronged him in how the team handled matters involving him.
That said, Thomas seems to have found himself a new and comfortable home with the Cavaliers.
The Land, indeed.
