Celtics announcer likes what he saw out of Aron Haynes in shower (vid)

Sports announcers and analysts are typically allowed unfettered access to a team’s players, which is normally a good thing. After all, the more broadcasters know about the inner workings of the team and its players lends to better in-game coverage.

That said, the Boston Celtics may want to temporarily revoke iconic announcer Tommy Heinsohn’s locker room privileges.

Why? Because Heinsohn, 83, provided the epitome of the patented “Too Much Information” bit when discussing Celtics newcomer Aron Baynes during Monday’s broadcast of Boston’s preseason tilt against the Charlotte Hornets.

During the game, Heinsohn spent some time discussing the 6-foot-10, 260-pound Baynes, who was signed by the Celtics in July. This provided a segue for Heinsohn to regale viewers with an anecdote about checking out Baynes recently … in an awkward locale.

“I took a look at Baynes in the shower,” Heinsohn said. “He looks like all of Australia. He is really put together.”

Wait. What? Alrighty then.

Baynes, it’s worth noting, had 10 points in five rebounds in the 94-82 exhibition victory. Heinsohn presumably enjoyed Baynes’ debut, although perhaps not as much as what can be gleaned via other means.
