Carson Wentz on giving Jake Elliott game check: ‘I got this worked out’
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz took to Twitter Wednesday morning and appeared to confirm that he will indeed give his Week 3 check to kicker Jake Elliott, as promised.
Elliott drilled a 61-yard field goal at the end of regulation to give the Eagles a thrilling 27-24 victory Sunday over the New York Giants. Just before Elliott made the attempt, Wentz was picked up on the sidelines saying he would give his game check to the kicker should he drill the clutch and lengthy kick, saying, “I’ll give him my game check if he makes it.”

And now Wentz seemed to acknowledge with the aforementioned Wednesday morning tweet that he’ll make good on his promise, tweeting in part, “I got this worked out.”
Well that escalated quickly…

Wentz’s weekly salary from the Eagles amounts to approximately $31,765, per ESPN’s Darren Rovell. But with roster bonuses and the like, Wentz’s salary jumps to $356,646 per week, per Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio. Elliott makes $465,000 per season. In other words, Elliott is set to earn a pretty nice bonus due to Wentz’s impulsive promise. Not a bad gig if you can get it.
