Le’Veon Bell, after jokingly applying, works shift at Dairy Queen (pic)

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell made good on a joke from the time of his holdout by working a shift at Dairy Queen Tuesday on the team’s off day.

Bell, who ended a protracted holdout just ahead of the Steelers’ Week 1 victory over the Cleveland Browns, spent a few hours at the Kensington, Pa., Dairy Queen. Bell had jokingly filled out an application for DQ on Aug. 31 to make light of his holdout.

“I was jobless at the time,” Bell said of his whimsical application, via ESPN.

Bell learned how to make Blizzards, dipped cones and Dilly Bars during his “work” shift. He served customers and made his go-to favorite, a cookie dough-Reese’s Cups blizzard, for himself.

“It feels amazing [to be here],” Bell said. “Those guys are hard workers. Just like playing football, you need a good team with you — hardworking, quality guys who will make your job easier.”

Dairy Queen shared additional footage of Bell’s workday via its official Twitter account.

Just because Bell got a taste of the DQ life, don’t expect him to overdo and overindulge on sweet treats.

“I’m definitely going to treat myself [on occasion],” Bell said. “I used to go to Dairy Queen all the time. It always brings back a little bit of memories. As kids, we always used to go get ice cream. Along with that, there was always good things that we did with the ice cream.

Bell had only 47 all-purpose yards in Pittsburgh’s 21-18 victory over Cleveland Sunday, a career-low. The running back finally signed a $12 million franchise tender earlier this month.
