Colin Kaepernick reacts to Michael Bennett’s Las Vegas police accusations
Colin Kaepernick on Wednesday took to Twitter to react to Michael Bennett’s recent allegations of misconduct by Las Vegas police officers.
The Seattle Seahawks defensive end has accused officers from the Las Vegas Police Department of “abusive conduct” during an encounter on the night of the Floyd Mayweather Jr.-Colin McGregor bout in late August.
Kaepernick, in a demonstration of solidarity and support, tweeted out Bennett’s statement concerning the events involving himself and Las Vegas officers on Aug. 26.
This violation that happened against my Brother Michael Bennett is disgusting and unjust. I stand with Michael and I stand with the people. pic.twitter.com/TqXFiso6lk

Bennett has made several alarming allegations regarding the incident. The NFL star’s official statement was tweeted out earlier Wednesday by NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport.

Rapoport’s NFL Media colleague Mike Garafolo has been providing updates on the situation as well, including how Bennett has retained a prominent civil rights attorney.
Burris says Bennett was “unarmed, sober and not involved in any altercations or dispute at the time” of the alleged incident.

Bennett has been among the most vocal supporters of Kaepernick as the quarterback continues to remain in NFL purgatory without a job. Given the nature of Bennett’s allegations — not to mention his advocacy for Kaepernick — it’s hardly surprising Kaepernick issued such a response.
