Star-studded cast photo surfaces from Kyrie Irving’s ‘Uncle Drew’ film
The first cast photo from an upcoming film about Kyrie Irving’s elderly alter-ego showcases that the movie features some big hitters among its co-stars.
“Uncle Drew,” a character originally spawned by a series of Pepsi commercials, is set to be the central character in the movie. Irving, who was recently traded by the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Boston Celtics, will of course reprise his role of the elderly former playground sensation who can still outplay his much younger opponents on the basketball court.
And now, a cast photo has surfaced that establishes some big-name talent among Uncle Drew’s supporting cast.

Along with Irving, the photo features Shaquille O’Neal (back top left) surrounded by Chris Webber and Reggie Miller. Actors Lil Rel Howery, Nick Kroll and Erica Ash also are among the cast, as is former NBA player Nate Robinson, who previously appeared in one of the Uncle Drew Pepsi spots.
The original “Uncle Drew” installment, “Chapter 1,” has been seen on YouTube nearly 53 million times since its launch in May of 2012.
“I’m really proud of what we’ve been able to build with Pepsi,” Irving said in February when the film originally was green-lighted. “And even more excited for what’s ahead.”
And from the looks of the revealed supporting cast, some big-time NBA personalities are along for the ride as well. Perhaps more surprises concerning potential superstar cameos are down the road as well.
The film as of now has no scheduled release date.
