Aaron Rodgers addresses breakup with Olivia Munn
Aaron Rodgers said the pressures inherent to carrying on a relationship in the public eye contributed to his breakup earlier this year with longtime girlfriend Olivia Munn.
In an extensive profile piece for ESPN The Magazine, the Green Bay Packers quarterback explained being under constant and intense scrutiny can prove to be overwhelming.
“When you are living out a relationship in the public eye, it’s definitely … it’s difficult,” Rodgers said. “It has some extra constraints, because you have other opinions about your relationship, how it affects your work and, you know, just some inappropriate connections.”
Reports shortly after the couple’s breakup in April following a three-year relationship indicated Rodgers parted ways with Munn over her “controlling” ways. Subsequent reports indicated Rodgers was making “drastic changes” in his life after the split from the actress.
Long before the breakup, Munn was believed to be the primary source of a longstanding estrangement between Rodgers and his family. Reports going back to last year pointed to Munn’s integral role in the conflict. Munn has even been blamed by Packers fans for Rodgers’ struggles on the field.
Regarding his well-publicized feud with his family, Rodgers doesn’t see any reason to address it publicly, regardless of what spawned it.
“Because a lot of people have family issues,” Rodgers said. “I’m not the only one that does. It needs to be handled the right way.”
Rodgers has since moved on from Munn, as he was recently spotted on a dinner date with soccer player Maria Margolius. It would seem rumors of a “possible” reconciliation between Rodgers and Munn isn’t in the cards at this point.
