Demi Lovato to sing national anthem before Floyd Mayweather-Conor McGregor bout
Pop star Demi Lovato has been tabbed as the national anthem singer ahead of the Aug. 26 prize fight bout between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Conor McGregor.
Showtime, which is behind the highly anticipated pay-per-view event, confirmed the news on Twitter.

Lovato, 25, may seem like an interesting choice but she is no neophyte when it comes to the world of MMA, where McGregor rocketed to superstardom as one of UFC’s most charismatic — if not controversial — personalities. Lovato has been romantically linked to MMA fighters Guilherme “Bomba” Vasconcelos, Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone and Luke Rockhold, per a New York Post report.
Lovato cut her teeth in the entertainment world as a Disney star before transitioning into one of the more popular pop acts in music. Suffice to say, landing such a high-profile gig will only help boost her already considerable star power.
McGregor and Mayweather will square off at T-Mobile Arena inside Las Vegas’ MGM Grand on Saturday.
