Report: Robert Horry involved in altercation at son’s basketball tourney

Seven-time NBA champion Robert Horry reportedly was involved in an altercation with a heckler at his son’s basketball tournament over the weekend.

TMZ Sports has posted video that appears to show Horry becoming involved in a confrontation on Saturday afternoon. The incident allegedly occurred during the Nike 3ON3 tournament at L.A. Live.

The report asserts that the man is a known heckler of Horry, not only at Saturday’s game, but at previous games involving Horry’s son as well.

The video purportedly shows the heckler approaching and then pushing Horry. The former NBA star then appears to throw a series of punches.

Horry has since confirmed the incident in fact occurred, but claimed he was only acting in self-defense.

“The guy was trash talking the whole game,” Horry told TMZ Sports. “He shoved me. Where I’m from, you protect yourself.”

Horry went on to add that he walked away from the confrontation, knowing that “the only one who was gonna lose in this situation” regardless of the outcome.

A tournament representative declined to comment, per TMZ Sports. A Yahoo Sports report indicates “[n]either Nike nor the Los Angeles Police Department immediately responded to inquiries about a potential investigation into the incident.”
