Young Colts fan overcomes eight heart surgeries, scores TD at camp (vid)
A young Indianapolis Colts fan who has valiantly battled serious health issues scored a memorable touchdown during Sunday’s training camp practice.
Michael Deiter, 10, has undergone a mind-boggling eight open heart surgeries already in his young life. But on Sunday, he was in the huddle with the Colts offense as running back.
After being warmly greeted by several players, including the rehabbing Andrew Luck, Colts backup quarterback Scott Tolzein called the play: “Trey Right, sweep right to Michael.”
Deiter, with Frank Gore leading the way, then reached the end zone on a run off the edge.
The Colts posted video of the memorable and heartwarming touchdown.
At 10 years old, Michael has survived 8 open heart surgeries.

Inspirational stories like the Colts’ gesture to Deiter never get old. It’s always touching to see a youngster who has had to battle far too many hardships early in life receive the opportunity to live out their sports dreams alongside their idols. Great stuff, to say the least.
