A’s investigating incident involving security guard, fan (vids)
The Oakland Athletics have issued a statement indicating an investigation is underway regarding a confrontation between a security guard and a female fan. The incident occurred during Monday’s game against the San Francisco Giants in the upper deck of Oakland Coliseum.
Footage of the incident originally obtained via Twitter and later posted by NBC Bay Area shows a security guard throwing punches at what appears to be a female fan before pulling her down by the hair. Other security guards then get involved to restore some semblance of order by attempting to separate the two.

The A’s issued a statement during the game acknowledging an incident had occurred and the team is investigating. But the team made sure to point out in the statement the team uses an outside security company for games.
“During tonight’s game, there was an incident involving a security guard,” the statement read via NBC Bay Area. “We contract with a third-party security company and are currently investigating the situation. Violence in any form is not acceptable. We take this incident seriously.”
Here’s additional footage of the incident, by way of Deadspin.

Suffice to say, if the incident played out the way it appears in the videos, the Athletics have a delicate situation on their hands, even if the security guard in question is not literally employed by the organization.
