Kyrie Irving spoke with Justin Bieber pastor before trade request

Just when we thought the Kyrie Irving saga couldn’t get any stranger, a Justin Bieber angle, of all things, emerges.

The story goes, as relayed by TMZ, that Irving met with pastor Carl Lentz of Hillsong Church prior to demanding a trade from the Cleveland Cavaliers. Lentz’s name may be familiar to some as he was the very same pastor Bieber reportedly met with before surprisingly deciding to cancel his “Purpose” tour earlier this week.

If the summary alone isn’t surreal enough, wait until you learn of the details.

Church sources tell us Kyrie, who’s been an active member for a long time, met with Lentz earlier this month about his desires to step out of LeBron James’ shadow. We’re told Lentz didn’t tell Kyrie to “leave Cleveland” — instead he listened to Kyrie’s concerns, and encouraged him to make the decision he felt was best.

There’s a reason it sounds so similar to Justin’s Purpose tour shocker — Bieber, Lentz and Irving all hung out together in L.A. just over a week ago. You could say they were on Kyrie’s turf … playing pop-a-shot at Dave & Buster’s.

Pop-a-Shot at Dave & Buster’s? Gotcha. Hey, there’s even footage of the trio hooping it up.

There you have it.

Suffice to say, with the inclusion of Bieber — along with a hip, hoop-shooting pastor — the Irving drama has now completely gone off the rails. In light of all the twists and turns and whatnot of late — and the entire situation has been real humdinger of a doozy — who would have believed that was even possible?
