Gophers coach P.J. Fleck reads mean tweets about himself (vid)
P.J. Fleck burst onto the national scene with his patented unbridled enthusiasm after being hired in January as the new head football coach of the Minnesota Golden Gophers.
Fleck of course fostered a reputation for being an over-the-top ball of energy while coaching Western Michigan to national prominence. And if anyone thought the 36-year-old was going to tone down his shtick — his “Row the Boat” mantra is a perfect example — after taking over a Big Ten football program? They were sadly mistaken.
Fleck’s brand of excitable exuberance not surprisingly rubs some people the wrong way. And being a public figure, it’s not a shock that some folks have taken to social media to mock and ridicule Fleck, primarily on Twitter.
Fleck, who has been an intriguing curiosity and something of a hit at Big Ten media days in Chicago this week, took some time away from promoting the Gophers program to read some mean tweets about himself.
Oof. It’s hard to say what’s more troubling. The meanness of the tweets or the loudness of that suit Fleck is rocking.
