Cover star Kyrie Irving not impressed with his ‘NBA 2K18’ rating (vid)
It appears the fact that Kyrie Irving is the cover athlete on “NBA 2K18” didn’t quite provide the benefit to his player rating as he expected or hoped.
The official social media accounts of “NBA 2K18” have been documenting player reactions to their respective ratings as part of the roll-out for the latest incarnation of the long-running video game series. A video of Irving was posted to Instagram Tuesday.
The Cleveland Cavaliers superstar point guard cites in the video “cover athlete, cover athlete, cover athlete” as the factors that merit “at least” a 95-plus rating. Irving was then informed he only received a 90. He couldn’t hide his disappointment but insisted it will only serve as motivation this upcoming season.
“I love it,” Irving says as he appears dumbfounded over the rating. “It’s motivating me now.”
According to Dime Mag, Irving’s 90 lands him fourth among all NBA point guards, so the rating isn’t all that bad. It’s just that Irving wanted a 95. Although it’s clear Irving wasn’t as upset about his rating as Philadelphia 76ers budding superstar Joel Embiid.
It sure seems like Embiid will join Irving as NBA stars who aspire to bump their ratings up a notch next season.
