LeBron James, Dwyane Wade tweet praise to Chris Bosh
The Miami Heat on Tuesday formally waived Chris Bosh, a move that was more a matter of when, not if. The Heat also announced that the organization will retire Bosh’s jersey and the gesture was widely praised by several of Bosh’s NBA colleagues, highlighted by tweets from longtime friends and former teammates LeBron James and Dwyane Wade.
The Heat took to Twitter as part of the official announcement.
"The number “1” will never be worn by another player and we can't wait to someday hang his jersey in the rafters." – Riley #ThankYouChr1s pic.twitter.com/Vx7dsX2Xdr

Both James and Wade shortly afterward tweeted out love for Bosh and praise for the Heat’s announcement.

Mike Miller and Hassan Whiteside also got in on the action, among others.
Bosh in turn thanked both the Heat organization for the gesture and his friends for the kind words in a series of tweets.
Thank you @MiamiHEAT @MickyArison , Coach Riley, The Heat Staff inside and outside of the arena, #HeatNation Fans, and City of Miami! https://t.co/VksDtIR505

Bosh’s standout NBA career was prematurely cut short due to a continued blood clot issue that first surfaced a few seasons ago. All told, Bosh has only played in 97 games over the past three seasons, missing the 2016-17 NBA season entirely.
The split, after much drama, appears to be an amicable one, relatively speaking, in the end. It’s unclear what Bosh’s future holds, although it’s unlikely he’ll ever play another game in the NBA. That said, the 33-year-old can count on some nice payouts from the Heat over the next handful of years.
Chris Bosh will be paid the $52.1M left on his contract in 120 twice-monthly installments of $434,393 – staring 11/15/17 and ending 11/1/22.

Bosh obviously would rather have his health, but the twice-monthly paydays are at least something positive to count on.
