LeBron James sounds off on Chris Paul joining Rockets

LeBron James surfaced on Twitter Wednesday to react to the seismic and shocking trade that delivered Chris Paul to the Houston Rockets.

James is of course longtime pals with CP3 — going back and beyond their Banana Boat days — so it’s not surprising the Cleveland Cavaliers superstar passed along his very best wishes.

The Clippers will receive Patrick Beverley, Lou Williams, Sam Dekker and a 2018 first-round pick (protected Nos. 1-3) as compensation for shipping off Paul to the Rockets, per a report from Adrian Wojnarowski.

Paul reportedly agreed to opt in to the final year of his $24.2 million contract to help effectuate the trade, one that helped the Clippers acquire assets as opposed to getting nothing in return had Paul left in free agency.

The move without question sets the NBA offseason on its head and presumably will lead to significant fallout with how free agency plays out. And a report already surfaced that Carmelo Anthony has switched gears and hopes to sign with the Rockets if the New York Knicks buy him out.

Whether a potential pairing of James Harden, Paul and possible Anthony — and absent of Anthony, how Harden and CP3 will coexist — are enough of a so-called super team to challenge the Golden State Warriors remains to be seen.

But to hear it from James, it’s a great move by the Rockets. Even better to LeBron? It made one of his closest NBA pals presumably a much happier person.
