Michael Jordan congratulates MVP Russell Westbrook with brief note (pic)

Michael Jordan took a moment — but not much more, evidently — to send Russell Westbrook a note of congratulations for winning the MVP award in a landslide, garnering 69 of the possible 101 first-place votes. And while brief, Jordan’s message to the Oklahoma City Thunder superstar was quite profound and inspirational.

Indeed. Can’t argue with His Airness’ statement right there.

Westbrook of course is signed to Jordan Brand, so it makes sense that Jordan would want to congratulate him. In fact, Jordan Brand even put together a fantastic tribute video.

Jordan Brand also sent out Westbrook a pretty impressive MVP care package.

Westbrook without question enjoyed a remarkable and historic season. The superstar, while putting the entire Thunder squad on his back after Kevin Durant’s offseason departure, averaged a league-high 31.6 points while putting up an average of of 10.7 rebounds and 10.4 assists per game, becoming only the second player after Oscar Robertson to average a triple-double over the course of a season. Westbrook also broke Robertson’s single-season triple-double mark of 41 games with 42 during his MVP campaign.

And even though Westbrook has yet to win a championship, he needs only look to MJ for motivation.
