Brandon Brooks accepts wedding invite from Eagles fan
Brandon Brooks probably will be treated as quite the distinguished guest after accepting an invitation to a Philadelphia Eagles fan’s wedding.
Geoff Lane, an Eagles fan living in Washington, D.C., thought it would be a hoot to invite the Eagles offensive lineman — and fellow Miami of Ohio alum — to his upcoming nuptials.
“As a 2007 graduate of Miami University, a Delaware valley native, and a lifelong Eagles fan, my fiancé and I would be thrilled to have you join us at our wedding,” Lane wrote, as transcribed by Philly.com’s Jonathan Tannenwald. “Throughout your first year in Philadelphia you have demonstrated what it means to be a Miamian and an Eagle. You continually exhibit the love, honor, resilience and toughness that make Miamians and Philadelphians such special people. We hope you will consider joining us on our wedding day.”
Brooks took to Twitter Friday morning to RSVP, as it were.
Thanks for the letter @geoff_lane .Idk you and we've never met. All I know is you're an @Eagles fan and a @miamiuniversity grad.See you Sat pic.twitter.com/vNaRUiiw8z

The wedding ceremony is on Saturday. While it would have been nicer of Brooks to RSVP a bit sooner — the letter is dated Jan. 7 — odds are Lane and his bride will figure out a way to make sure their guest gets a nice seat.
It’s worth noting that the notion of a fan inviting a favorite sports personality to their wedding has been a thing for years (here and here and here and here). But rarely does it turn out that said star actually attends the ceremony. Lane should consider himself very lucky.
