LeBron James, James Corden play cops for ‘Carpool Karaoke’ bit (pic)
LeBron James will take part in an upcoming segment of “Carpool Karaoke,” a bit that has launched CBS’ “The Late Late Show” host James Corden into superstardom.
The segment was filmed in Los Angeles on Monday, the first of consecutive days off for the Cavaliers and a day after the team dispatched the Lakers by a score of 125-120.
The incredibly popular “Carpool Karaoke, which typically features Corden singing in a car with the likes of Adele and Lady Gaga, among other A-listers, will feature an aditional level of entertainment in James’ appearance.
Corden and James apparently portray buddy cops who battle ninjas, as absurd as it may sound.
James on Tuesday took to Instagram to post a photo of himself and Corden hamming it up.
“Uh oh!! What does this dynamic duo have cooking up!?!? Only thing I can say is it’s going to be out of this world. Stay tune,” James wrote in the post before adding #JamesandJames #TubbsandCrockett as hashtags.
“It’s going to be phenomenal,” James told the Akron Beacon Journal’s Marla Ridenour ahead of Tuesday’s practice. “He’s doing a whole show based upon that whole thing with Apple Music.
“It’s not just us in the car singing songs. I can’t tell you exactly what we’re doing, but we’ve got a whole production going on.”
James said he’s unaware when the segment will air but hopes it’s before he goes into his patented shutdown mode for the postseason.
“I hope so,” James said. “Get a couple laughs before I’ve got to lock in.”
