Michigan wearing practice unis in game due to scary plane mishap (pics)

The Michigan Wolverines men’s basketball team was involved in a scary incident Wednesday when their plane slid off the runway after aborting an attempted takeoff in high winds when departing for D.C. and the Big Ten Tournament.

While everyone walked away shaken but unscathed, there unfortunately was one unfortunate result of the incident: The Wolverines somehow ended up without their game uniforms for Thursday’s match-up with Illinois as some of their luggage didn’t make it to D.C.

What’s that mean? The Wolverines took the court for their game that tipped off Thursday at 12:00 ET in their practice jerseys.

Michigan Basketball’s official Twitter account broke the news.

And here’s a photo of the team taking the floor in those aforementioned practice jerseys after arrving at Verizon Center only a little over 90 minutes before tip-off.

It probably feels a bit awkward for the players. But given what the team just went through, though, it could be worse. Obviously.
