Adrian Peterson issues cryptic tweet about New York Giants

Adrian Peterson probably raised a few eyebrows Wednesday evening by shooting off an arguably cryptic tweet about the New York Giants.

The Minnesota Vikings running back took to social media to muse upon the “interesting moves” the Giants have been making this offseason.

Peterson, 31, is unlikely at this stage to return to the Vikings next season, at least with the current $18 million salary cap hit. While Vikings general manager Rick Spielman expressed hope last month Peterson would retire a Viking, things are on tenuous ground at best.

Vikings president and co-owner Mark Wilf said a few weeks ago some “tough analysis” is needed regarding Peterson’s future with the team.

Peterson also said last month he would “love” to finish his career with the Vikings. But he later tabbed the Texans, Buccaneers — and, most interestingly, the Giants — as teams he would consider should it not work out in Minnesota.

The “interesting moves” to which Peterson may be alluding is how the Giants cut wide receiver Victor Cruz and running back Rashad Jennings. The release of those two players saved upwards of $10 million in cap space.

With that in mind — not to mention the Giants’ finished 29th in the NFL in rushing offense last season — and it’s possible Peterson just cryptically let the Giants know he might be interested in them should things not work out with the Vikings.
