Conan O’Brien surprises Patriots’ James White with truck (vid)

New England Patriots running back James White’s memorable week got that much better during an appearance Thursday on “Conan.”

White, who played an integral role in the Patriots’ historic comeback in Super Bowl LI to beat the Atlanta Falcons, was presented with a F-150 pickup truck by the late night show host, which had been donated by Ford.

White had such an outstanding game as the Patriots stormed back from a 28-3 deficit to win 34-28 in overtime — 14 receptions for 110 yards, three touchdowns and scoring on a critical 2-point conversion — that Super Bowl LI MVP Tom Brady suggested the running back deserved the honor.

It’s worth noting Brady previously made the same argument after Super Bowl XLIX, saying Malcolm Butler deserved the MVP nod, saying he wanted to give the Chevy truck he was awarded to the Patriots’ game-saving cornerback.

In years past, Super Bowl MVPs were awarded a truck as a bonus, but that was not the case this year. So it must have been especially sweet for White that O’Brien played a role in getting the running back a well-deserved, brand-new pickup.
