Miami radio host eats crow — literally — after lost bet to Christian Yelich (vid)
Brendan Tobin, a host on Miami’s 790-AM The Ticket, can breathe a big sigh of relief after making good on his bet with Marlins outfielder Christian Yelich. And what Tobin was forced to do after losing said bet was tough to swallow, to say the least.
The bet between Tobin and Yelich was made last August. The radio host proclaimed he would eat crow if Yelich hit 20 home runs by season’s end. With Yelich sitting with 11 home runs at the time of the wager and the season nearing its end, it seemed like a safe bet, with “seemed” being the operative word.
Yelich, who had never hit more than nine home runs during his big-league career, went on a torrid longball streak, hitting nine round-trippers in 41 games, with the 20th coming on Sept. 21.
“People started coming up on the streets: ‘Hey look, here’s the bet, here’s what he did. If you get to 20, he has to eat a crow,’” Yelich said, via the Sun-Sentinel.
Well, Wednesday marked the day when Tobin actually ate crow. With Yelich looking on, it certainly didn’t look like an enjoyable dining experience.

“That’s the first time I’ve seen anybody eat a crow. I didn’t know it was possible,” Yelich said. “I didn’t actually think he’d go through with it. The fact that he ate a crow is pretty funny. Good for him for actually doing it.”
Disgusting. Any final thoughts, Mr. Tobin?
“I definitely ate some bone,” he said.
