Ronda Rousey makes appearance at Standing Rock protest (pic)

Ronda Rousey turned political activist last week by making an appearance at the Standing Rock protest in North Dakota.

The former UFC champ partnered with fellow Olympic judo athlete Pauline Macias to help deliver supplies to the activists protesting the Dakota Access pipeline, reports TMZ.

Rousey, known for her charitable acts but perhaps not her activism, was photographed during her appearance.

Macias took to Instagram to document the trip with Rousey, writing, “I had one of the best road trips of my life with @rondarousey to deliver supplies to the protesters at Standing Rock!”

“This was such an incredible experience, & I can’t thank my friend enough for allowing me to be a part of it! #NODAPL #StandWithStandingRock”

President Donald Trump earlier this week signed an executive order aiming to overturn a United States Army Corps of Engineers’ denial of a permit to allow the pipeline to cross the Missouri River.

Interestingly, Rousey has a previous history with Trump. During his campaign, Trump name-dropped Rousey as one of his supporters. Rousey countered by stating, “I mean, I wouldn’t vote for him. I just really wouldn’t trust the guy with running my country, that’s all.”

Trump then celebrated Rousey’s stunning defeat at the hands (and feet) of Holly Holm at UFC 193, which prompted Conor McGregor to badmouth Trump.

Rousey suffered a second career setback in December with a devastating loss to Amanda Nunes in her comeback after a long layoff at UFC 207. Her MMA future is up in the air at this time.
