J.R. Smith shares touching photo of daughter born five months premature
J.R. Smith and wife Jewel Harris recently revealed their daughter Dakota was born five months premature earlier this month and weighed only one pound.
The Cleveland Cavaliers star and Harris made the heartbreaking announcement via a video posted to Twitter on LeBron James’ Uninterrupted online platform.

“We know we’re not the only family going through this, who has been through this or who will ever go through it,” Harris says in the video. “That’s why we decided to share what we’ve been going through with you guys. Please keep us in your prayers, and we’ll do the same for everybody else.”
Smith has since taken to Instagram to share a touching photo of his older daughter Peyton sharing a touching moment with young Dakota.
TMZ reports Dakota was born between between 21 and 22 gestational weeks and is “doing well” while receiving the best care possible. Let’s hope Dakota continues to overcome her premature birth and Smith and Harris receive the support they need during this profoundly difficult time.
