Kevin Garnett burns Charles Barkley over calling him ‘borderline Hall of Famer’ (vid)
Kevin Garnett is carving out a nice little NBA niche for himself post-retirement thanks to “Area 21,” his no-holds-barred show frequently featured on TNT’s “Inside the NBA.”
For Thursday’s edition, KG welcomed the iconic Gary Payton into his basketball-themed man cave, during which a fantastic interaction occurred with the “Inside the NBA” studio crew, primarily between KG and Charles Barkley.
It all started with Sir Charles touting the Hall of Fame pedigrees of himself, TNT colleague Shaquille O’Neal and Payton. That’s when things got interesting, as KG didn’t take too kindly to Barkley’s opinion of his Hall of Fame worthiness.

As transcribed by Dime Mag:
Barkley: Gary (Payton), you’re in the Hall of Fame. Shaq, you’re in the Hall of Fame. I’m in the Hall of Fame. Kevin, you’re a borderline Hall of Famer. Gary-
Barkley: Me and Shaq have been talking-
Garnett: Champion. I’m a champion, too. It’s all good. Shaq, you’re a champion. Gary, you’re a champion. You know, Chuck, you’re almost a champion. Borderline champion.
Barkley obviously enjoyed a Hall of Fame career but his critics are always happy to point out his lack of an NBA title, something Garnett was more than happy to bring up after Barkley questioned his Hall of Fame credentials .. and it was brilliant.
KG was one of the most notorious smack-talkers in NBA history, so it should come as no surprise that he was able to totally roast Sir Charles without missing a beat. Well done.
