Dwight Howard after joining Magic fans booing him: ‘It’s all good’ (vid)

Dwight Howard on Wednesday night made another trip back to Florida to play against his former team, the Orlando Magic, this time with his hometown Atlanta Hawks. Howard’s exodus out of Orlando obviously wasn’t a  pretty one so it should come as no surprise that the Magic fans haven’t held the center in high regard.

The bitterness Magic fans still harbor toward Howard prompted the Amway Center crowd to rain down a chorus of boos upon the once-beloved player during the second quarter. So what did Howard do in response? Joined them in the jeering.

That’s one way to handle a heckling crowd.

Howard, after scoring 13 points and corralling 12 rebounds in a 111-92 victory, discussed the hostile reaction to his return to Orlando after the game and took the high road when making his comments.

“It’s all good. I had a wonderful eight years here,” Howard said during an on-court postgame interview, as transcribed by Dime Mag. “It didn’t end the way all of us wanted it to end but it’s always good to remember the good things instead of the bad. We had some good moments here and if they boo me, I can’t do nothing but respect it and move on. I enjoyed it here, I enjoyed the fans, the city, and all that. I never had any malice toward the fans here.”

Howard seems to be enjoying himself this season playing with his hometown Hawks, especially after enduring a few tough seasons with the Houston Rockets. His self-deprecating response to a booing Magic crowd seems to illustrate that quite well.
