Tracy Claeys delivers frigid parting shot at Minnesota after firing (vid)

Tracy Claeys on Tuesday was officially fired as head coach of the Minnesota Gophers and the fallout from the decision is still being absorbed and examined not only at the university but in the world of college football as well.

Athletic director Mark Coyle said the decision was based upon, per an AP report, the need to “address challenges in recruiting, ticket sales and the culture of the program. We need strong leadership to take Gopher football to the next level and address these challenges.”

While the controversies that prompted Claeys’ ouster — not to mention the repercussions of Tuesday’s announcement — are of material importance and will continue to be a major points of discussion in the days and weeks to come, it bears mentioning how Claeys himself initially reacted to his dismissal.

Suffice to say, he managed to take a pretty frigid parting shot at Minnesota.

Twin Cities’ KARE 11 has the footage of Claeys leaving the Gophers football complex upon learning his fate.

But Claeys wasn’t done with sarcastic comments on the brutal Minnesota winters. Here’s another savage line via KSTP’s Bill Lunn.

Cold-blooded to say the least. It sounds like there’s at the minimum one thing Claeys won’t miss about Minnesota. Although considering how everything shook out, it’s likely not the only one.
