Same-sex proposal occurs during Bulls-Spurs game at United Center (pic)

In perhaps for the first time ever at a major American professional sporting event, a same-sex couple got engaged during Thursday’s game between the Chicago Bulls and San Antonio Spurs at the United Center.

Sean Highkin, a Bulls reporter for The Atlantic, appears to be the first member of the media to tweet out the news.

The Big Lead has learned from Highkin that the couple kissed and the engagement was generally well-received by the crowd.

Highkin went on to speculate on the trailblazing nature of Thursday night’s events on the United Center court.

There obviously will be vastly differing reactions to what happened on Thursday night during the Bulls-Spurs game. Regardless of whether or not it was in fact the first same-sex proposal/engagement during a major American sports event, it can be reasonably expected that more will follow in light of the night’s developments.
