Carmelo Anthony clarifies cryptic Instagram post
It turns out Carmelo Anthony’s cryptic Instagram post was much ado about nothing. At least that how the New York Knicks star is framing it now that the social media missive started attracting attention.
Anthony doesn’t want anyone trying to glean any hidden messages in the 77-word Instagram post featuring an image of him holding the ball on center court at Madison Square Garden. So, Anthony clarified matters by pointing out the words in the post are from a speech at the end of the 2015 Jeezy track “Just Win.”
“I just felt those lyrics goes with that picture,’’ Anthony said after shootaround at United Center ahead of Friday’s tilt against the Chicago Bulls, via the New York Post . “Don’t dissect, please don’t. It’s nothing more to it than me posting it. If I posted it today with a smiling face, you wouldn’t say anything.’’
Anthony claims he was merely posting the lyrics because Jeezy’s new album came out last week.
“His album just came out,’’ Anthony added. “Please don’t. It’s too early for that. I love the game. Please don’t dissect that. Please don’t. It’s too early for that.’’
That’s one mystery solved. But that doesn’t mean Anthony isn’t somewhat frustrated by the Knicks stumbling to a 1-3 start.
“It could get discouraging,’’ he said. “Me personally, this is something I’ve experienced before and I know what it feels like. I don’t want to experience that anymore. That’s where the frustration comes from.
“It’s a thin line between that. I know what type of team we have and our capabilities are. We’re not there yet. It’s a fine line between getting frustrated and understanding the situation we’re in.’’
