Ben Roethlisberger asked Tom Brady for jersey before Week 7 game (vid)

Showing that even the biggest names in professional sports can be great admirers of their contemporaries, video has surfaced of Ben Roethlisberger asking Tom Brady for a jersey.

The scene played out before the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Week 7 game against Brady’s New England Patriots. Roethlisberger, who did not play in Pittsburgh’s 27-16 loss, greeted Brady on the field before kickoff.

In NFL Films footage airing on Showtime’s “Inside the NFL” this week, the two exchange pleasantries and share a hug before Big Ben asks his fellow superstar quarterback for a favor.

“Hey, listen, I’ve never done this before but I would love to get a jersey at some point,” Roethlisberger tells Brady. “It would mean … There’s not many that I want. I’m going to put it in my office. You’re the best, dude.”

No word on whether or not Brady has hooked up Roethlisberger with the requested piece of wall art just yet. But Big Ben does mention he hopes to see Brady and the Patriots again this season, which would have to occur in the playoffs. Perhaps if that happens, the exchange can be made on that day.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Brady has been approached by an opposing team’s injured quarterback in the recent past. But at least in this instance with Big Ben, the notion of seeing Brady again in the postseason actually seems like a distinct possibility, unlike the exchange that occurred between him and Tony Romo last season.
