Russell Westbrook on watching Kevin Durant’s Warriors debut: ‘Nah’

Stop the presses, as Russell Westbrook revealed he didn’t spend any time watching former teammate Kevin Durant’s debut as the member of the Golden State Warriors.

When asked if he caught any NBA opening night action Tuesday night — which included the Warriors’ showdown with the San Antonio Spurs — Westbrook replied, “Nah.”

To be fair, when the Oklahoma City Thunder superstar was asked he happened to catch up on the initial slate of games of the NBA 2016-17 season, he similarly replied, “Nah.”

To be fair, Westbrook commonly has stated he doesn’t pay much attention to the day-to-day goings-on with other NBA teams. But he did afford reporters a thorough inside look what he did instead of catching some NBA action Tuesday night.

“I was doing something you guys probably don’t want to hear about,” he said.

Not satisfied with Westbrook’s response, reporters asked him to expand upon it.

“I played cards, man,” he said. “I was just chilling, minding my own business, eating a nice dinner, talking to my wife on the phone. … Took a nice shower. I used Dove soap. Brushed my teeth, washed my face and went to sleep. Put a movie on before I went to sleep, and that’s what I did.”

Westbrook without a doubt ended his soliloquy regarding the evening’s events on a sarcastic note. But odds are good Westbrook — who sarcastically expressed no interest whatsoever in discussing Durant at any length just recently — didn’t spend much time catching any action from Durant’s debut with the Warriors.

But should Westbrook had heard Durant and the new-look Warriors were blown out of their own gym by the Spurs to the tune of a 129-100 loss during his nighttime wind-down? It might have elicited a grin, perhaps even a slight chuckle … right before he brushed his teeth, perhaps.
