Lada Gaga promises no Nipplegate repeat in her SB performance
Lady Gaga has been booked as the featured performer for the Super Bowl LI halftime show next February. Given her proclivity for being provocativeness — especially as it relates to her oft-outrageous performance attire — Lady Gaga has given all assurances there will not be a repeat of Nipplegate at NRG Stadium when she’s onstage.
Nipplegate of course is the moniker applied to the controversial Super Bowl halftime show featuring Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake at Super Bowl XXXVIII. During the 2004 performance, Jackson’s nipple was exposed briefly, and the ensuing fallout gave rise to oft-quoted term “wardrobe malfunction.”
Lady Gaga adamantly insisted no such malfunction will occur during her halftime show. The pop star-turned-actress was asked point blank by Howard Stern in an interview earlier this week about the possibility.
“Will your breasts pop out?” Stern asked, via the New York Daily News.
“Absolutely not,” she replied.
Lady Gaga went on to explain in an illustrative manner what kind of precautions are taken to avoid such a disastrous incident.
Gaga said her stylist “glues her underwear to her ‘you know what’ without her even having to ask.” In fact, said stylist did once during a performance on “Saturday Night Live” without even informing her.
“I didn’t know til (the show) was over … I went to the bathroom and was like, wtf?” she said.
