David Ortiz ‘Retired Not Expired’ shirt designed by his daughter (pic)

David Ortiz of course is set to retire whenever the Boston Red Sox’s season eventually comes to a close. As part of his farewell, his daughter Alex has designed a great t-shirt in the slugger’s honor.

Bearing the message “Retired Not Expired 2016” on the front and the Dominican Republic flag on the back, the premium t-shirt version — both men’s and women’s — retails for $25.00. A long-sleeve tee sells for $30.00 while a hooded sweatshirt version runs $34.00.

As noted in the above tweet from ESPN’s Darren Rovell, all proceeds from the sale of the shirt benefit the David Ortiz Children’s Fund. So, as the listing mentions, “this shirt will give Papi the only retirement gift he wants – help for more kids!”

Ortiz undoubtedly is thrilled and flattered that his daughter designed a shirt that not only celebrates his retirement but also benefits his charity. While Big Papi is arguably swinging that bat better than any 40-year-old in MLB history, the notion that he will be able to spend more time with his wife and three children will make his transition into retirement that much easier.

But should one of his children want to buy him a retirement gift, they could always get him a “Big Papi’s Retirement Party” scented candle. Odds are he would love it. After all, he supposedly had a hand in creating the scent.
