Trey Mancini’s mom overjoyed after he hits HR for first career hit (vids)

Baltimore Orioles first baseman Trey Mancini was called up to the big leagues on Sept. 16. And for his MLB debut on Tuesday night against the Boston Red Sox, the 24-year-old didn’t disappoint, hitting a home run for his first career hit in his second career at-bat.

And perhaps best of all? Several members of his family were in attendance at Oriole Park to witness the magnificent way he began his big-league career, including his mother, Beth. And perhaps no one was more excited than Mancini’s mom, as evidenced by her reaction to not only the round-tripper, but also how she responded when given her son’s home run ball.

While the Orioles did go on to lose to the BoSox by a score of 5-2, it probably didn’t dampen the excitement of it all for the Mancini family.

After Mancini was called up last week, here’s what he had to say about the momentous event.

“It’s a dream come true, it’s the reason I’ve been playing baseball since I was 4 years old, was to one day make the Major Leagues,” he said, via the Baltimore Sun. “I’m just trying to take it all in right now.”

Speaking of dreams come true, that’s probably how Mancini’s mom — who became only the latest mother to lose it over her son’s MLB debut — would characterize what she felt sitting in the stands watching her son make his MLB debut in such thrilling fashion.
