Yasiel Puig meets Dodgers fan after knocking her tooth out with ball (pic)

Yasiel Puig did his part to provide a happy ending to some drama that began on Monday at Yankee Stadium when he accidentally knocked out a Los Angeles Dodgers fan’s tooth while tossing a souvenir baseball into the stands.

Alyssa Gerharter, a California native now living in Manhattan, is a big-time Dodgers fan who took in the team’s 9-2 victory over the Yankees. After Puig secured the victory by securing the final out, he tossed the ball into the stands into a group of Dodgers fans.

Unfortunately, the ball struck Gerharter square in the mouth, knocking out a tooth.

After a trip to the hospital after a stopover in the Yankee Stadium first aid room, Gerharter told her tale, saying:

“It wasn’t so much painful as it was shock,” she said. “So I felt it hit me and I could feel immediately with my tongue there’s a hole. And I looked down at my hand and saw there’s a tooth in my hand.”

Gerharter mentioned “everything happened so fast” she’s unsure Puig even was aware of what happened. But the Dodgers slugger evidently caught wind of Gerharter’s trials and tribulations that resulted from his toss, as he had a meet-and-greet with her on Wednesday.

Not only did Gerharter get to meet Puig, she also had the honor of the slugger creating one of his patented #Puig hashtags (here and here), as documented by the #PUIGMYTOOTH” banner.

Gerharter even got herself an autographed baseball.

It’s probably safe to say that Gerharter was thrilled with the outcome of the events. Getting to meet a real-life Dodgers star must have been a thrill, even if it came at the expense of one of her teeth.
