Ryan Fitzpatrick reacts to Larry David’s criticism of beard
Longtime New York Jets fan and renowned funnyman Larry David opined recently that he doesn’t understand why Ryan Fitzpatrick insists on sporting his trademark, unkempt beard. In fact, the co-creator of “Seinfeld” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm” suggested during an appearance this week on “The Dan Patrick Show,” perhaps jokingly, that Fitzpatrick should shave it off.
But is it possible that the unflattering take on Fitzpatrick’s facial hair may influence the quarterback to actually do it?
Fitzpatrick was informed of David’s commentary following Jets practice on Tuesday. Apparently a longtime fan of David’s work, the quarterback claimed he might actually take the suggestion into consideration.
“Well, I’ve heard that he’s a big Jet fan,” Fitzpatrick said, via NFL.com. “But I’m probably a bigger ‘Seinfeld’ fan, so I don’t take that lightly. I will take it into consideration, Larry. And I respect you very much.”
When told that David also doubled-down on his comments last year on “The Howard Stern Show” that he would be a terrific offensive coordinator, Fitzpatrick even busted out a “Curb” reference to respond when asked how he felt about it.
“Pre-tty, pre-tty good,” Fitzpatrick said.
That crack was as dazzling as the “Flaming Globes of Sigmund,” that’s for sure.
We’ll obviously now have to wait and see if Fitzpatrick actually follows through and shaves off his beard. But it wouldn’t be wise to count on it.
