Yankees prospect Clint Frazier makes clumsy play for Instagram model

As the old saying goes: Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Clint Frazier, a highly touted prospect recently acquired by the New York Yankees in the Andrew Miller trade, took to Twitter to make what can only be referred to as a relatively clumsy play at attracting the attention of famous Instagram model Jen Selter.

If one attempt is worthwhile, a second try apparently can’t hurt, as evidenced by Frazier retweeting his own tweet a short time later.

Well, can’t blame the young man for trying.

Frazier, currently in the Yankees’ farm system at triple-A Scranton-Wilkes Barre, explained the social media ploy after his second game with the RailRiders after being traded away by the Cleveland Indians organization.

“I’ve been trying to reach out to her,” Frazier told NJ Advance Media.

Frazier evidently envisions a big-league call-up sooner rather than later, as he points out that Selter calls New York home.

“She lives in New York,” Frazier said, smiling. “I think she’s 22. I’m 21. I’m single. Let’s hook this up!”

Meanwhile … he’s playing minor league ball in Pennsylvania, not major league ball in the Bronx. A call-up to the bigs and a date with a gorgeous model — not to mention a health and fitness guru, according to — with 9.7 million followers on Instagram?

If you’re going to dream, might as well dream big, right?

And hey, the bushy red-haired guy is absolutely brimming with confidence. After all, he did just get a haircut.
