Prince Fielder posts cryptic message on Instagram amid injury news
Prince Fielder and the Texas Rangers found out about some potentially disappointing news earlier this week when it was learned that the slugger could be out the rest of the season due to a herniated disk in his neck.
But it was Fielder who took it to the next level by posting a cryptic message on social media as the news was being disseminated and subsequently discussed.
In a straight-text image on Instagram, Fielder makes his disparate feelings known regarding those who support him and his perceived haters.
The message in the image reads: “I love you all. Except you. You know who you are. Douchebag.” Fielder then adds in the subtext: “Is it you?!?!? Go Rangers!”
More will be known about Fielder’s ultimate prognosis after he undergoes tests Friday. But this season has been a disappointing one, as Fielder is slashing just .212/.292/.334 this season in 89 games with only eight home runs and 44 RBI.
He won the Comeback Player of the Year Award the following season after undergoing neck surgery in May of 2014 and missing the remainder of the season.
Pro athletes posting cryptic musings or messages on social media amid scrutiny, controversy or nothing at all has become commonplace (see: LeBron James). But Fielder’s recent foray into the activity, while not identifying explicitly who are the intended parties of his message, certainly makes it clear his thoughts about them.
