Brandon Belt rips himself on Twitter after striking out to catcher (vid)
The Pittsburgh Pirates found themselves on the receiving end of a savage blowout, losing to the San Francisco Giants by a score of 15-4. But the savagery that occurred afterward in the social media musings of Giants first baseman Brandon Belt at his own expense may have been much more severe.
The Pirates were left throwing out backup catcher Erik Katz to pitch the ninth inning. And he did an admirable job, too, holding the Giants scoreless while surrendering two hits and striking out one.
Katz’s strikeout victim was Belt, who whiffed on the third strike.
The MLB GIFS Twitter account had some fun with Katz’s relative “mastery” by posting video of the strikeout while noting that the catcher is #NotAPitcher.”

Belt caught wind of the tweet and suffice to say, he wasn’t pleased with his at-bat. Not in the least.
Apparently not a hitter either https://t.co/YbXaAcWwuI

As noted by CBS Sports, Belt is triple-slashing this season at a .305/.414/.538 clip with 10 homers and 35 RBI. That’s actually not too shabby, meaning his woeful at-bat against Katz was simply a bad day at the proverbial office.
