John Harbaugh and Mike Tomlin have enjoyed an up-and-down relationship over the years, something that’s hardly surprising given that the duo serve as head coaches for teams that have enjoyed one of the bitterest rivalries in the NFL in the recent past.

Despite the longstanding animosity that exists between the two teams, it appears at least Harbaugh has a good sense of humor about how that’s prompted some tense exchanges with Tomlin. Harbaughy also made light of some infamous shenanigans pulled by the Steelers head coach during a game a few years back.

Harbaugh and Tomlin were both in attendance recently at an event supporting “There Goes My Hero,” a charity that promotes increasing the registry for bone marrow donors, per an ESPN report. And while the Ravens head coach was on the stage, he singled out Tomlin in the audience as he roated the Steelers head coach about how he interfered with a Jacoby Jones’ kickoff return during a game three years ago, an act that resulted in Tomlin being fined $100,000 by the NFL.

“I suspect he’s a pretty good tackler,” Harbaugh joked, later imitating the sideline stunt Tomlin pulled that even spawned Internet memes. “We never exactly saw the tackle. But he thought about it.”

The play in question involved Tomlin taking a step into the field of play as Jones was set to score during the Ravens’ ultimate 22-20 victory.

But Harbaugh wasn’t done razzing Tomlin just yet. He also discussed an awkward handshake between the two following a Steelers’ last-second victory. Harbaugh at the time seemed irked by Tomlin’s dismissive handshake.

“For 3½ hours, we’re battling each other,” Harbaugh said. “And then for about 30 seconds on the walk across the field, sometimes we’re still battling one another, right? This guy’s got a great handshake.”

Not only that, Harbaugh recalled how Tomlin trolled him after the Steelers beat the Ravens for the third time in one season back in 2008-09 season, capped by 23-14 Steelers win in the AFC Championship Game.

“I’m just sorry we didn’t get a chance to play you four times,” Tomlin allegedly told the Ravens head coach, according to Harbaugh.

“I thought to myself, ‘Wow, that’s strong.’ I was impressed,” Harbaugh said. “One of these days, we’ll get you three times. I know we will.”
