LeBron James sidesteps question about reported ties to ‘Space Jam 2’

LeBron James evaded a question regarding how he reportedly will star in “Space Jam 2” by indicating he won’t allow his supposed involvement in any projects away from the court distract him from leading the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Playoffs.

“I have a great team that handles my affairs off the floor, James said after Cavaliers shootaround, via Eye on Basketball. “Since I signed with Warner Bros. we’ve been looking to do some things and figure out some things that best fit both sides. But my team’s handling that and I’m not going to take my focus off what my job is right now, which is handling the postseason right now.”

James has been linked to a potential “Space Jam” sequel for some time now. But the rumors heated up last week when The Hollywood Reporter reported that not only will James star in “Space Jam 2” but a director, Justin Lin, has also been tied to the project.

Chatter surrounding James’ possible involvement in the sequel to the 1996 film that originally starred Michael Jordan has been occurring as long ago as last summer. James’ announced partnership with Warner Bros. last July only furthered the belief that at some point the movie would be made.

It’s hardly surprising that James prefers not to discuss the project at this point in time, although other possible eventualities outside of the Cavs’ current series with the Atlanta Hawks apparently have captured his attention.

And it certainly appears that James’ commitment to keeping he and the Cavaliers focused on the task at hand is paying dividends, as evidenced by Wednesday’s 123-98 throttling of the Hawks to take a 2-0 lead in the semifinal series.
