Phillies to wear retro pillbox caps for two games in June (pics)
The Philadelphia Phillies will pay tribute to the funky style the team rocked in the 1970s by donning retro pillbox caps during two games later this season against the Milwaukee Brewers at Citizens Bank Park.
For the games scheduled for June 3 and June 5, the Phillies will take the field in not only the pillbox caps but also the replicas of the uniforms the team wore in 1976.

The replica uniforms will also feature the same patch the team wore during the 1976 season that commemorated the centennial of the National League.
SportsLogos.net’s Paul Caputo made the following additional observations about the throwback look (via Philliedelphia):
It’s a great look, to be sure, and a wonderful way to celebrate the storied tradition and look of Phillies baseball. Other MLB teams are getting in on the retro action as well this season, including the New York Mets, among others. All major league teams also will don holiday-specific uniforms throughout the season.
On the field, meanwhile, the Phillies are off to a respectable 15-11 start. Perhaps the nod to the past will conjure up positive vibes courtesy of those great Phillies teams of the 1970s.
