Jonathan Papelbon thinks reporter called him ‘Johnny Jonathan’ (vid)
A fast-talking, smooth-seguing reporter briefly confused Jonathan Papelbon into believing he had referred to the Washington Nationals closer as “Johnny Jonathan.”
As MASN reporter Dan Kolko received the nod from studio host Johnny Holliday to begin a post-game interview with Papelbon following the Nats’ 3-1 win Wednesday over the Miami Marlins, this happened.

“Thank you very much, Johnny, Jonathan: You get into quite a battle there with Giancarlo Stanton …,” Kolko opened his interview.
Once he completed his inquiry, Papelbon first had a question for Kolko.
“Uh, first of all, did you just call me ‘Johnny Jonathan’?” Papelbon asked.
Kolko said he would have to check the tape, which he did, and then took to Twitter to explain the confusion caused by his quick segue.
Just got it. I said "Thank you Johnny [as in Holliday]. Jonathan…" Pap had no idea I was talking to Holliday in the studio #JohnnyJonathan

So, in the end, all’s well that ends well. And given Papelbon’s past, let’s just be thankful he didn’t choke Kolko. Just saying.
