Browns’ ‘QB Factory of Sadness’ since 1999 summarized in GIF
The Cleveland Browns have been utterly inept at securing a franchise-type quarterback going all the way back to before 2000.
With Robert Griffin III joining the fold after signing with the Browns last week — becoming the presumed 25th starting quarterback for the Browns since 1999 — a tragically hilarious GIF has been created to summarize the so-called “QB Factory of Sadness.”

The long-running rundown of ineptitude has become an embarrassing badge of courage for Browns fans, having been chronicled in Cleveland by way of a modified Tim Couch Browns jersey draped upon a mannequin in town. And when Austin Davis was named the 24th starting quarterback for the Browns since 1999 last December, his name was added to the list.

This long-running history of failure at the most important position in football features a laundry list of bad-to-average quarterbacks, including: Tim Couch, Ty Detmer, Doug Pederson, Spergon Wynn, Kelly Holcomb, Jeff Garcia, Luke McCown, Trent Dilfer, Charlie Frye, Derek Anderson, Brady Quinn, Ken Dorsey, Bruce Gradkowski, Jake Delhomme, Colt McCoy, Seneca Wallace, Thad Lewis, Brandon Weeden, Brian Hoyer, Connor Shaw, Josh McCown, Johnny Manziel and Austin Davis.
With all signs pointing to Josh McCown being dealt after Griffin’s acquisition — although he said recently he still expects to compete for the starting job with RG3 next season — that’s one more quarterback to be cast aside by the Browns organization.
RG3 obviously has not yet taken a snap with the Browns, but his image has been added to the above GIF for good measure. It remains to be seen if Griffin can resurrect his NFL career in Cleveland, but given the litany of failures the Browns have endured, the case can be made that the deck is stacked against him.
