Jordan Spieth, Rickie Fowler enjoy boat ride after match play losses (pic)
Both Jordan Spieth and Rickie Fowler saw their respective pursuits of a title at the WGC-Dell Match Play event in Austin, Tex., come to a premature end. But being the commiserate Texan host, Spieth made sure the visiting Fowler still had a nice time during his visit to the Lone Star State.
Fowler, who lost to Byeong-Hun An in the group stage on Friday, and Spieth, who lasted until Saturday’s Round of 16 before losing to runner-up Louis Oosthuizen, both appeared to be having a grand time during a festive boat party hosted by golf icon Ben Crenshaw along with his wife.
Spieth, who hails from Dallas, said of the boat ride that afforded those aboard a water-based view of the Texas city: “Austin ain’t so bad.” Indeed.
Spieth enjoying a post-competition boat ride is nothing new for the 22-year-old phenom. After all, he also enjoyed a similar excursion following his victory on the treacherous Chambers Bay setup at the U.S. Open last summer with a boat ride in the Bahamas with longtime girlfriend Annie Verret.
It’s unclear if Verret was on the boat with Spieth this time around, but at least he had his pal Fowler aboard.
