Phil Hughes goes all out for Twins’ ‘Bachelor’ viewing party (pics)
Minnesota Twins pitcher Phil Hughes continued the team’s spring training tradition by hosting a viewing party on Monday night so all the guys could take in the latest episode of “The Bachelor.”
Yep, the reality show. And to further up the ante of hosting the evening, it was the season finale. Big time stuff.
But if the intense events playing out on the television weren’t enthralling enough to captivate the Twins players’ collective interests, the amazing spread set out by Hughes and his fiancée at least made up for it, as a taco-themed culinary adventure was on the menu for the evening.

The build-your-own taco bar consisted of “Korean BBQ braised short ribs, Pasilla chicken, kimchi, Mexican street corn, pickled onions and other such accoutrements,” per MLB.com’s Rhett Bollinger.
The scribe also reported that the confirmed guest list included Glen Perkins, Trevor Plouffe, Brian Dozier, Kevin Jepsen, Trevor May, Tommy Milone, Ryan O’Rourke, Pat Dean and new Twin, Byung Ho Park, who was introduced to the reality show on a recent evening, much to his understandable confusion.
And it appears Hughes was on point with his kimchi, too.

The wives/girlfriends of many of the players of course were invited and expected to attend as well, and some did, as documented by a tweet from the Minnesota Twins Wives official Twitter account.

While the finale playing out on television surely was exciting to witness, perhaps the highlight of the evening — even above and beyond the scrumptious taco bar — was how Hughes’ fiancée prepared taco-styled cookies.

Now that’s impressive. Perhaps even impressive enough for a ballplayer to admit he attended a viewing party for “The Bachelor.”
But even the delectable dessert spread wasn’t enough to soothe Hughes’ nerves.
For a guy that hates drama, this is really stressing me out #TheBachelor #TacoFinale

One can only imagine.
